The multimedia work on this page was produced in 2013 using only melted polystyrene as adhering product. Melted both back and front it is proving itself powerfully stable.
36 Blind Mice 2013 Mixed media on canvas 1800 x 1200 |

36 Blind Mice is breathtaking. The shear scale of it and the cohesion of the forms despite the disparate nature of them, makes it a stand out piece.
Eves Garden 2013 Mixed media on canvas 1200 x 900 mm
'Eve's Garden' is about the relationship of people and the environment.
Eve's apple is poured from enamel paint and I've mixed enamel into the turps as I melted the polystyrene, lifting the piece during making to give the opaque watery effect. The black is made from melted black polystyrene.
I like that Eve's garden is the Sea. The far reaching effect from Eve's activity's are obvious.

Modern Children 2013 Mixed media on canvas 690 x 500mm
'Modern Children' examines the relationship of people to themselves. The piece examines this time in human existence and the impact of that. Good, Bad, Everything.
The duality is expressed in two Kiwi (New Zealand) sayings that spring to mind... "it's sorta good" and "yeah - nah"

'Under' 2013 Mixed media on canvas 1200 x 40 x 900mm
'Under' was a vibrantly coloured piece which in the interests of cohesion, ended up focusing on form rather than color. I simplified it by using three different types of black - black sand, spay enamel and melted black polystyrene.
I adore the way the groper head has sheep jaw bone 'wings', and the way headphone ear pieces, clock and tin lids combine with the gib rounds to become bubble like.
This piece varies considerably in differing lights and is one of my most successful.
